As odd as it may sound to some of you I am so glad the holidays are almost over and a New Year is approaching.  Although its been a tough year everyday I am just grateful that I wake up on the right side of the dirt and that God has blessed me with yet another day with my children and family,  a beautiful home and food on our table.  This holiday was tough as it found us with a passing in our family and another  critical illness that is saddening us daily.   I myself had a bit of a scare with my heart but thankfully medication got that under control and The Hubby is finally doing better from his accident.  I was thankful for some good news finally and then lo and behold I got hoarse, lost my voice, came down with fever of 103  and started coughing like crazy…two days later The Hubby followed…ugh….   We missed Christmas with some of our family and took a chance being with some of the others.  Its been 11 days now and we are sick of being sick.   I have ran around with a box of lysol wipes like a crazed lunatic trying to kill the germs and the whole things is getting annoying.  (however the house sure got a good cleaning)   I can’t wait until we stop sounding like a bunch of sick seals and visit some family.

During all this drama and trama  I  am sure I have missed so much in my social networking world.  I haven’t had time or even felt like looking at all the wonderful sites I usually visit, talk to my “blogging/twitter friends,  update Bestfoodies or launch my new site the way I wanted to.   What cooking I have done has been out of necessity and I miss enjoying my time in the kitchen instead of wondering if I can even make it through fixing a meal.   I can’t wait to start this New Year and am hoping for a peaceful, healthy, drama free year….ok so that’s a bit lofty of a goal but I do hope for one better than the last.

My goal is to come back stronger than ever and make this a wonderful year for Bestfoodies.  I thank all of you that have continued to support me while we have been going through all of these illnesses and those who have continued to check on me and my family throughout this time of trial.    Please stay in touch and watch for recipes to start popping up…I can’t wait to get back to cooking!!!!

Love and Happy New Year to you all…
